Spring Training Seminar (March 2006)

The Shorinji Kempo Dojos in Lebanon held the Spring Training Seminar for under 13s, which consisted of two days training followed by a day out in Byblos, one of Lebanon's historical cities. The theme of the seminar was "Taking the Initiative."

Training began with a Kyu Grading, Howa, Kihon then technical practice. Kenshi had the opportunity to practice techniques in details with Kenshi from a different Dojo.

The second day of the seminar consisted of mainly Embu practice: it was the first time where Kenshi in Lebanon practice Kumi Embu and demonstrate it in front of each other. Technical instruction followed where Kenshi split into their respective grades.

Sticking to the theme of the seminar, in the time allocated for Howa and through the form of a discussion, Kenshi tried to develop an understanding of Kaiso's words "the person, the person, the person, everything depends on the quality of the person."

After two days of training, Kenshi from both Beirut Dojos visited Byblos city, its ancient ruins, museums, and old market, picking up some valuable historical information, whilst enjoying a boat ride in the Mediterranean Sea.
